Once back in Dakar we passed living quarters at the opposite extreme of the relatively modern Pink Lake Lodge.

The Pink Lake Lodge is a relatively new addition to this area on the outskirts of Dakar, Senegal. The round huts are built with cement painted yellow decorated with an artist’s rendering of flowers and indigenous animals, and topped with a thatched roof. Each hut is a bedroom with double bed and an alcove-style bathroom. I am sure it is five-star for the area and brings tourist business to the community. Situated close to both Atlantic beach and Lake Retba, it is an interesting place to visit. The lodge and its surroundings are an oasis in the desert with green grass and flowering bushes. After our excursion in old vehicles, we were provided a tasty snack of hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
