Sunset over the Mediterranean
A train ride from Rome to Civitavecchia was a track through memory lane and the many railroad rides of my childhood. Passing through the backyard of Rome with its graffiti and clothesline decor, then the pastoral countryside, the rails eventually deposited us at the sea. The resort town was composed of multi-colored, stacked buildings climbing steep hillsides. Sitting in the warm sunshine we ate delicious REAL Italian pizza for lunch before hunting down our cruise ship, and experienced the first of numerous, stunning Mediterranean sunsets.
